Color sensors are based on color detection principle much alike human eye. These sensors detect colors of objects and compare them to pre-taught reference colors. Typical application is product quality assurance but they are applied also for process control tasks. Different object color shades can be used for controlling e.g. conveyor line or sorter functions. Based on the color shade the sensor gives controlling command as digital output or via Profibus DP field bus or Ethernet network connection.
